๐ Today's Sunday Spark - March 10th, 2024
Mar 10, 2024March 10th, 2024
Hope you're having a good start to your Sunday! Here's a look at what I've been up to recently:
๐ผ Center Visits
I set a goal at the beginning of this year to visit as many centers in my local branch to gain insights on current instructor experiences. I have found that no matter which center I visit, no matter how chaotic or calm the environment is, there is an overwhelming feeling of love and heart that every instructor exudes. I can't help but smile to myself whenever I see instructors interact with the people and students around them and it gives me a stronger sense of purpose in finding ways to help and support them as much as possible.
๐ท Caught a cold, but recovered!
Ugh if there's one thing I will vehemently deny the existence of, it's whenever I catch a cold or the flu. I turn into Peter Griffin's rendition of the "Lady at work who can not get sick right now" ... but in all seriousness it's having to get past the feeling of not being okay with having to do nothing and settling into the feeling of rest being a good thing. I always have to remind myself if I want to continue being of service to others, then I need to make my health a priority first and it's okay to take a few days off to recover.
๐ง Baking
Baking is one of my favorite hobbies, and this week I baked some strawberry and lemon meringue tarts using the following recipe from Hanbit Cho. I gave some of the lemon ones away to staff members, kind of kept the strawberry ones for myself ๐คซ
๐๏ธ Podcasts I'm loving:
Mel Robbins is a down-to-earth chaotic ball of loveable energy, and she's got a podcast that full of interesting guests and valuable content. I'm posting an episode that she did back in July 2023 on what I find to be a hot-button topic that is continuously popping up in recent conversations I've had with multiple instructors (and family members too!). Check out her show, The Mel Robbins Podcast today!
๐ Book(s) to check out:
As mentioned in a recent newsletter in my newest Team Spark series, Daniel Coyle's book "The Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups" gives an in-depth look along with actionable steps to build a strong sense of team culture in the workplace. I recommend checking it out as it's helped with my journey of creating a space for collaboration in my business where taking initiative is a given, not a request.
๐ ๏ธ Tools to check out:
ScribeHow - ScribeHow.com is a neat tool that utilizes AI to generate SOPs (standard operating procedures) that help with training processes in your business. By simply hitting the "Record a Scribe" button, all your mouse clicks are recorded and small screenshots are taken on your computer desktop or browser of a process that you could be completing (for example, registering a new student into your SIS). ScribeHow will then use AI to breakdown your process into steps and auto-generate instructions as well as a description that you can now save as a link for staff members to refer to whenever they need assistance completing a task.
My hope is that every Sunday Spark gives you a nice little peek into the window of my life to help you learn a little more about me and the stuff I personally feel has helped me in my day-to-day living =)
P.S. All the recommendations are purely subjective from my POV, I haven't been sponsored by these companies or anything to share them with you (...yet). I just feel they've been really effective for me in my workflow so I thought you might want to check them out too!
Happy Sunday,
Tina Lee
